But differences were not so "mind blowing".

SPOILER

But I guess to each their own. It had plots from the original manga even if the times, involved persons and involved vehicles changed. Should be interesting to see what the sequel will be like.

UGH, NO. If you're gonna link to a version of the movie uploaded to youtube, link to one that wasn't uploaded by someone who didn't know what they were doing. That person calls his upload "HD" (it can't be since only the DVD was uploaded to the 'net, and it's quite obviously my rip), and the aspect ratio is completely wrong.

Here, use one of these two instead. They're way better.

As soon as you or someone else decides to stop being on the sidelines and takes initiative to get it done. You don't seem to grasp that fansubs are made by people and that people decide whether to make them or not. Therefore, there cannot be any estimations for a release.

The truth hurts, I suppose. If you wanted to help someone, I suppose a person with no Japanese experience but who was willing to assist in the subbing process could set up timing, prepare fonts, things like that. The parts that are still lots of work, but require no knowledge of the language.

I watched Wangan Midnight after the awesome Initial D and I think it was pretty good. Although I think I prefer drifting more than just speed on highways.. But the storyline was very interesting. happy.gif

I finish the episode which has a guy driving a Supra then quit. It's quite boring to me, I know it's different type of racing but I'd prefer playing Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero series than watching Wangan Midnight or come anywhere close to the Arcade machine.

It's been bugging me for some time - how much of the manga storyline did not appeared in the anime? The Wangan Midnight manga have 42 volumes and I don't think it is possible to squeeze it into 26 episodes. I suppose they chose the most interesting opponents from the whole story arc? Actually, would there be enough material to do 2nd stage? I would be delighted if someone could clarify this for me, because I have only several volumes and I cannot understand japanese yet.

Secondly, does anyone know if Akio retired in final volume? I know that he was racing Black Bird and Ogishima's FD and he supposedly win. Still, is it possible he will re-appear in Wangan Midnight C1 Runner? (Black Bird is already on the scene)

BTW, tomorrow marks the relase of C1 Runner vol. 9 wink2.gif

Necro bump. Can anyone weigh in on the quality of a physical DVD release? The reviews I've found seem to be all over the place.

The legitimate DVD release is a Region 2 and is Japanese-language-only. As this series was the first OB Planning to finally use anamorphic widescreen, the video quality is actually quite good. Audio is as good as to be expected of a DVD as well, no complaints.

I cannot speak to the quality of any other DVDs as anything else is unofficial and there was never any international/subbed DVD release for the series.

It's one of the unreleased tracks from the end of the series that were slated for release on OST 3, but since OST 3 was never pressed, it never saw the light of day. You can find the name in the ED credits of the episode if you're curious.
