pm me if you want a larger version some more from last night. I am using photoshop for these, but just the levels tool to keep the black a deep black, and to eliminate the smoke.

The image above is taken with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens wide open. It is cropped at 25% of the original raw image. Below is a 100% of a portion of the raw image. As you can see, the deteriorating image quality can be seen clearly when the picture is viewed at 100%. But for a $60 lens, this is probably the best bang-for-the-buck lens from Canon. Another noticeable aspect is how this lens handled CA. As you can see below, CA is handled quite poorly in the background (or foreground) blur regions when wide open. Stopping down would not help much in this situation, it'll actually makes it even more noticeable. But when compare to other lens in its class, CA is well controlled relatively speaking. All in all, this lens is worth every pennies. If have a SLR camera compatible with Canon's EF lens, be sure to check this lens out. |

Because they look so good... *drools over chips and the photos* EDIT: I thought I might share some of my photos. Keep in mind that all of these were shot with a Casio Exilim camera. I'm currently taking a photography class at school, so if you guys could comment on what you like and what you don't like about/in the pictures it would really help me. You can be brutally honest if you want to. This post has been edited by BOZZ Savage on Sep 12 2007, 03:13 PM |

You took of picture of nothing special but the way you looked at it made it look somewhat interesting. The light shining through the windows and onto the wall is cool. One thing that bothers me, which is something you couldn't do anything about, is the focal point. It's like where the walls & ceiling intersect wants to be the focal point because the lines all pull you towards it, but the top edge of the light shining in draws you to another point and almost fights for attention with the brightness and direction. |

It's actually a corner, but the whole focal point issue still is apparent. If I did take another angle I could have minimized the light on the wall, but I kind of like that. If you look at it the way it's supposed to be, the lines all meet up generally where the gridlines meet. (Draw a tic-tac-toe grid on it, and you'll see what I mean) So it draws your attention a bit more away from the light on the wall. Either way thanks for commenting on the picture. You got any other comments? I'd sure love to hear them, good or bad. |

Actually have the dog lower. Raise the camera and get rid of the excessive space under the dog. Too much of the floor showing. 3/5 of the picture is just floor. Should be 2/5 max.

ペンタックス Group: Advanced Members Posts: 3,454 Member No.: 15,047 Joined: Dec 24th 2005 Location: San Jose, California | I was using the rule of 1/3s, I meant to have the floor taking up around 2/3s of the picture. Although after seeing what you mean, it would have looked even better is Shadow was at the bottom 1/3 of the picture and the wall was the rest of the 2/3s. |

Of course, if you are pixel peeking, you will bound to find some noise in the darker regions on the left. But hey, it's the final presentation that counts. |
